Today is Internatonal Women's Day (IWD), a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. It also happens to be the 108th anniversary of the first pilot's license (license #36 of the International Aeronautics Federation) awarded to a woman, 24-year old Baroness Raymonde de la Roche. Born Elise Raymonde Deroche, She went on to set several women's records before dying in a crash on 18 July 1919 at the age of 36.
Today's Featured Map marks the locations of her first and last flights, along with Le Bourget Field in Paris where a statue of de la Roche stands in her honor.
