For many children around the world, Christmas conjures images of Santa Claus, departing the North Pole to deliver presents through the night. Today's Featured Map shows the view of Earth at night from far above the North Pole. The red dot might be Rudolph's nose as Santa's sleigh prepares for takeoff.
Merry Christmas to those of you who celebrate Christmas, and wishes for a peaceful time with family for those of you who recently celebrated Hanukkah, the (northern) winter solstice, are about to celebrate Kwanzaa, or who may not be celebrating any particular holiday at this time of year.
