Memorial Day: NPS National Cemeteries

 
The United States celebrates Memorial Day as a day to honor men and women who died while serving in the U.S. armed forces.

Today's Featured Map marks the location of 14 national cemeteries maintained by the National Park Service. Another 131 national cemeteries are maintained by the Department of Veterans Affairs, two are maintained by the Department of the Army, and 24 overseas military cemeteries are maintaed by the American Battle Monuments Commission.

If you are in the United States, or are a U.S. citizen, please pause for a moment at 3 pm local time to reflect on those who died for your country.
