40 Years of Southwest Airlines

40 years ago, Southwest Airlnes began service with three Boeing 737-200 aircraft flying 18 daily round-trips from Dallas Love Field including 12 daily round-trips to Houston Intercontinental Airport and six daily round-trips to San Antonio.

Today, Southwest flies over 3,400 flights each day—nearly 100 times as many as 40 years ago—between 72 cities with a fleet of 548 Boeing 737 aircraft.
