Featured Maps: Longest Possible Domestic Flight? France (7 June 2010)

The Longest Possible Domestic Flights featured map, inspired by a thread on the Great Circle Mapper's Facebook page, set off another round of debate and the winner (some might say that longest possible domestic flight is a dubious honor) appears to be France, topping the United States whether territories are included or not.

Including territories, BES-NOU is over 12% farther than SJU-GUM. Excluding territories, France still comes out ahead with BES-RUN since Réunion is a region of France, with the same status as the regions which are on the European continent. (This is analogous to Hawaii being part of the United States.)
