British Airways is well-known for large aircraft flying all over the world from hubs at London's Heathrow and Gatwick airports. Although Concorde is gone and a fleet of over 100 Boeing 747s has dwindled to 36, British Airways flies one dozen Airbus A380s, 58 Boeing 777s, and 24 Boeing 787 Dreamliners from these large hubs.
In the shadow of these two behemoths, British Airways operates flights from London City Airport to 32 destinations, a scope of operation that would be a dream for many airports. Due to a short runway and strict noise restrictions, much smaller aircraft are used, with the largest being an Airbus A318 that provides daily service to New York. (The A318 is the largest aircraft at LCY in size but not by seats since if features an all-business class configuraiton with just 32 seats.)
Today's Featured Map shows British Airways' routes from London City Airport, including financial centers like New York (off map), Zürich, and Edinburgh, seasonal ski destinations like Chambéry Aix-les-Bains Airport, Greek islands including Mykonos and Santorini, and sunny beach destinationss such as Málaga Costa del Sol Airport.
